NASPA Long Point Nevis (January 23, 2020) – Due to inconsistent weather conditions, work at the Charlestown tender pier has been stalled to ensure the safety of the contractors and workers involved in the project.
Work on the Charlestown pier has been stalled due to a series of inclement weather conditions. This had to be done in order to ensure the safety of the contractors and workers involved in the project. During this time of the year, we experience high winds, sea swells and rip currents that could pose a serious danger to life and equipment, should we continue the project in unfavourable weather conditions.
While the weather conditions have prolonged the time span, the project is already in its halfway stage, and we are very optimistic that it will be completed very soon. As much as we, the contractor, and the Nevisian public, would like to see this facility completed and in operation, we would need at least one to two weeks of consistent calmer seas and better weather in which to work.
We want to reassure the general public that once the conditions are good, we will see much progress at the work site. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to improve our facilities in a safe and conducive manner.
